Hope Giselle, executive director of the National Trans Visibility March, stated, "All of us deserve to feel like human beings, and all of us deserve to have our rights respected... Without a democracy, without a true democracy, we all fall to the wayside of corruption and a government that does not see us as human beings, and I refuse to allow that to stand."
Democracy Now! reported on the People's March, noting that activists rallied against Trump's policies, chanting phrases like "We won't go back!" and holding signs that conveyed strong messages about collective unity and advocacy for various rights including women’s rights, trans rights, and D.C. statehood.
