The Rules for the Biden-Trump Presidential Debate on CNN
Briefly

Ninety minutes debate at 9 p.m. Eastern time, with commercial breaks which is unusual as past general-election debates didn't have them. Candidates can't talk to aides but can relax during breaks.
No live audience - Biden campaign's demand to prevent Trump from playing off supportive crowds. Differs from past cycles but similar to 2020 due to the pandemic. Both candidates will stand at lecterns.
No opening statements, closing statements allowed. Biden won the toss to speak first, Trump last. Each answer has two minutes, rebuttals one minute. Moderators can grant extra time.
