Aileen Cannon, a Trump-appointed federal judge in Florida, ordered the Justice Department to temporarily withhold special counsel Jack Smith's final report on investigations into Trump, despite authority questions.
In a filing, Trump’s valet and property manager requested Cannon to bar the release of Smith's final report, despite the ongoing case before the 11th Circuit Court.
Cannon noted that Attorney General Merrick Garland and staff are prohibited from sharing Smith's report until the 11th Circuit rules on the motion involving Nauta and De Oliveira.
Professor Barbara McQuade expressed skepticism about Cannon's authority, stating she doesn't believe the judge holds any jurisdiction over the matter regarding Smith's report.
