"This is a renaissance," said Holli Holliday, a lawyer in the Washington, D.C., area who is president of Sisters Lead Sisters Vote, a group that works to advance Black women's political leadership. "We're partnering with a collective of Black women organizations to collaborate and collectively move like we never have before." In light of Harris's nomination, the collective efforts of Black women voters reflect their increased mobilization to influence critical elections.
Kamala Harris's focus on health care issues such as maternal mortality and reproductive rights has electrified her support among Black women, driving them to engage more vigorously in the electoral process. With strong backing from this demographic, especially in battleground states, Harris stands a better chance of maximizing voter turnout and altering the political landscape significantly.
