Aileen Cannon Locks Up the Jack Smith Report For at Least 30 More Days - emptywheel
Briefly

Aileen Cannon has issued a ruling prohibiting the sharing of Jack Smith's Volume Two of the Final Report for thirty days following appellate proceedings. This ruling enjoins the Department of Justice and its agents from releasing any information or drafts outside the Department. The report contains sensitive information protected by a Rule 16(d)(1) Protective Order and includes non-public material as well as claims of attorney-client privilege raised by Trump. A joint status report on adherence to the Order is required after the appellate process concludes.
Attorney General Garland or his successor(s), the Department of Justice, and all individuals acting in concert with them, are prohibited from sharing Volume II of the Final Report.
This Order remains in effect pending further Court order, restricted as noted. A joint status report on the Order is due thirty days after appellate proceedings.
