"There was a meeting on disabilities in Kerry. I had organised it and I was very eager to be there"
"Who does he think he is representing travelling at such speed?"
Michael Cahill, a 60-year-old sitting TD from Kerry, was disqualified from driving for two years following a dangerous driving conviction at Fermoy District Court. He was recorded travelling at 190km/h on the Dublin–Cork motorway while overtaking a stream of traffic and coming "aggressively" close to a van to force it to change lanes. Cahill said he had organised and was eager to attend a meeting on disabilities in Kerry. Judge Colm Roberts warned that the number of people dying on roads is rising and questioned who the driver thought he was representing by travelling at such speed.
