Metropolitan Black Bar Association hosts 42nd anniversary awards gala | amNewYork
The Metropolitan Black Bar Association held its 42nd Anniversary Awards Gala on May 15 at Pier Sixty in Manhattan. Legal professionals, advocates, and community leaders gathered under the theme Amplifying Our Legacy: Strengthening Our Network, Leadership, and Advocacy to Advance Justice. The MBBA, described as the largest unified association of Black legal professionals in New York, focuses on increasing the impact of Black lawyers across the state. The organization supports members in achieving personal and professional goals while addressing legal issues affecting Black communities. The gala recognized multiple honorees, including Hon. Dianne T. Renwick, Robert Grey, Kermitt Brooks, Janai Nelson, and Deborah Enix-Ross. The MBBA Board of Directors was also celebrated, including President Nicole Lester Arrindell and other officers.

Kermitt Brooks, Esq., chief legal officer of Guardian, received the Corporate Counsel of the Year Award. Janai Nelson, Esq., president & director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, was recognized as Public Servant of the Year."
