Josh Klinghoffer, former guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers and currently with Pearl Jam, has accepted a plea deal resolving a vehicular manslaughter charge from a May 2024 incident where he fatally struck a pedestrian. In court, Klinghoffer pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to one year of probation, 60 days of community labor, and additional requirements like a driver safety class. The victim's family has subsequently filed a civil suit against him, with the next hearing set for July 1st.
On Wednesday, Klinghoffer appeared in a Alhambra, California, courtroom and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence.
Ashley Sanchez, the victim's daughter, delivered a victim impact statement during Wednesday's sentencing, expressing the deep void her father's absence has left in their lives.
