Nobel laureate sues French concrete maker Lafarge over alleged Islamic State support
A civil suit has been filed against French conglomerate Lafarge by 430 Americans of Yazidi background and Nobel laureate Nadia Murad, accusing the company of supporting attacks on the Yazidi population through a conspiracy with the Islamic State.
The Yazidi plaintiffs are seeking compensatory damages and attorney's fees, citing violations of the US Anti-Terrorism Act.
The lawsuit alleges that Lafarge made payments to Islamic State in order to purchase raw materials from a Lafarge cement plant in Syria during the Syrian civil war. [ more ]
