A garda sergeant, Sgt Laura Gaffey of Kilcullen, Co Kildare, alleged bullying, harassing, and dysfunctional behaviour in relation to how her complaints were handled by An Garda Síochána. In High Court proceedings, it was claimed that after she applied for a new position and following the death of her son, a superior told her, “I suppose you thought you would get a consolation prize for losing your son.” The proceedings relate to the alleged treatment she received in connection with her workplace complaints and career application.
