Godfrey Sig-Od, 48, received a life sentence for murdering his ex-wife Elvie and daughter Angelica in North York. Convicted of first-degree murder for Elvie and second-degree murder for Angelica, he faces parole eligibility of 25 and 18 years respectively. The brutal crime occurred inside a vehicle following an apparent struggle. Victim impact statements revealed the devastating emotional toll on the family, particularly from Elboy Pio, who expressed that their deaths irrevocably altered their world and created profound grief and loss.
"The day we lost them, our world changed forever. The shock, the pain, and the sheer disbelief were unbearable. Every morning, we woke up wishing it had all been a nightmare, only to be met with the crushing reality that they were gone."
Police previously said the mother and daughter were killed inside a vehicle near Bathurst Street and Ellerslie Avenue on Aug. 22 of that year, after what officers described as an 'obvious struggle.'
