Case Tossed When Lawyer Can't Find Any Parking Near The Courthouse
Briefly

Superior Court Judge Helen M. Toor gave counsel for Acuity Insurance Co. an extra 15 minutes to appear for trial and criticized the excuse of no parking for the no-show.
"Normal incidents of life such as bad traffic, a child's tantrum, snowy roads, spilled coffee, or challenging parking are reasons to allow extra time getting to court."
The judge highlighted that the 15-minute grace period should be added to the half-hour the lawyer should be arriving for trial, making circling for 45 minutes unacceptable.
