Biglaw Firm Sues Former Attorney Over Compensation - Above the Law
Briefly

Dechert filed a lawsuit against former attorney Kathleen Fay for over $132,000, claiming compensation was mistakenly overpaid. Fay was transitioned to a temporary employee under a contract outlining hourly payment for assigned work. Upon discovering the mistake, Dechert requested repayment, which Fay refused, asserting the allegations are baseless and unethical. She contended Dechert's motives were questionable, particularly given its substantial revenue, and expressed concern over the impact on her 401K funds. The suit seeks the return of the overpayment along with legal costs.
Upon learning of the administrative error in mid-May 2024, Plaintiff demanded that Defendant repay the erroneous payments for unearned wages, but Defendant has refused to comply.
I do not believe Dechert would have tried to recoup money had I not found a new job just when work started to pick up again at the firm.
It is unfortunate that Dechert has chosen to remove my vested funds from my 401K account and to bully me in public. However, the equities and the law favor me.
