Are Young Biglaw Associates Too Scared To Take Vacation Time?
Briefly

The recent ABA Young Lawyers Division survey revealed that a significant number of respondents earning $200,000 or more express reluctance to take vacation time. The primary reason for this apprehension appears to be the fear of jeopardizing potential promotions or salary increases, reflecting a concerning trend among high-earning lawyers prioritizing work over personal well-being.
In addition to their hesitation about vacation time, the survey results indicate that fears associated with career advancement lead lawyers earning high salaries to spend less time with their families, with 53% acknowledging this sacrifice. Furthermore, self-care practices are similarly compromised, as 60% of respondents admitted to neglecting self-care due to work-related anxieties.
