Sullivan was sentenced to three years of probation in 2023 after a jury found him guilty of attempting to cover up a significant data breach from 2016 where hackers accessed the personal information of 57 million customers and 600,000 drivers. Despite Sullivan challenging his charges and sentence, the court reaffirmed the earlier ruling.
The conviction of former Uber chief security officer Joe Sullivan on obstruction of justice charges was upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit this week.
Sullivan was given three years probation by a U.S. federal judge in 2023 after a federal jury convicted him of charges related to his attempted coverup of a 2016 security incident.
This incident involved hackers stealing the personal details of 57 million customers and the personal information of 600,000 Uber drivers.
Despite Sullivan's attempts to dispute aspects of his sentence and charges, the appellate court maintained the ruling made by the lower court.
