Streeting met with anti-trans group accused of promoting 'conversion therapy'
Briefly

Wes Streeting, the UK Health Secretary, faced scrutiny after meeting with the Bayswater Support Group, accused of supporting anti-trans practices, including conversion therapy. In a resurfaced interview, Streeting noted that while the government aims to enforce a trans-inclusive conversion therapy ban, his discussions with parents from the group revealed distressing attitudes towards transgender youth. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism's report underscored alarming practices among some Bayswater parents, such as cutting off their trans children's access to support, repressive measures against gender identity, and rejecting gender-affirming therapy options.
I told [them] to go and get [their] phone, laptop and tablet, and that [they weren't] getting them back until [they] give up [their] binder.
Having met with Bayswater parents, I think that's been a - I'd go so far as to say - traumatic experience for some of those families.
I can't get [my child] much support for [their] sexual assault because our local rape crisis offers the affirmation model. I don't know what to do.
