Federal court says students can misgender trans classmates as much as they like - LGBTQ Nation
"Our society continues to debate whether biological pronouns are appropriate or offensive - just as it continues to debate many other issues surrounding transgender rights,"
"materially and substantially disrupt school activities or infringe on the legal rights of others in the school community."
"that those genders are decided at conception by God."
A full panel of the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that religious students in an Ohio school district can use whatever pronouns they choose when addressing classmates. Parents Defending Education challenged an Olentangy School District policy that required students to use transgender students' preferred pronouns. Plaintiffs argued children were forced to use language affirming transgender identities and cited beliefs in only two sexes decided by God. The court issued a 10-7 decision and a preliminary injunction preventing discipline for using so-called "biological pronouns," finding the district did not show such speech would materially disrupt school activities or infringe legal rights. The ruling allows students to misgender peers and creates increased risks of harm for transgender students.
