The US Supreme Court heard Chiles v. Salazar and appeared poised to challenge Colorado's 2019 ban on licensed therapists offering conversion therapy to minors. Colorado law prohibits therapists from attempting to "eliminate or reduce" same-sex attraction or change a person's "behaviours or gender expression," with fines up to $5,000 and possible license loss; therapists may offer "acceptance, support, and understanding." A devout Christian mother who filed an amicus brief said she pursued conversion therapy for her son and now believes it drove him to suicide, calling the practice predatory and ineffective. A ruling is expected by June 2026.
