APD won't enforce SB 14 as Paxton and Trump further attack gender-affirming health care - Austin Monitor
Briefly

Two federal judges recently issued temporary restraining orders against a Trump executive order blocking federal funding for gender-affirming care for minors, allowing providers to continue operations temporarily. However, Texas has already enacted a ban via Senate Bill 14. Austin's City Council has taken a stand by refusing to enforce SB 14, promising not to penalize care providers. This resolution was backed by a memo from the Austin Police Chief, emphasizing the city’s commitment to supporting gender-affirming healthcare despite ongoing political pressures from the state and federal levels.
This past May, City Council passed a resolution refusing to pursue enforcement of SB 14, becoming the first city in the state to do so.
The Trump administration's newest attack has prompted another city response, in the form of a memo from Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis, affirming non-involvement.
