Los Bananos, designed by Ana Nuño de Buen and Palma architecture office, is a residential project in Sayulita, Mexico. It features two houses amid an area dominated by short-term rentals, appealing to those wanting a long-term connection to the community. With a material palette of stucco and exposed structures, the homes exhibit a modern take on traditional palapa architecture, incorporating thatched roofs for environmental benefit. By thoughtfully positioning the residences to complement the site's topography, the project fosters indoor-outdoor living and maintains privacy, presenting a stylish yet contextually relevant lifestyle in Sayulita.
Defined by a cohesive material palette of stuccoed walls and an exposed structural framework, the residences balance raw materiality with the refined simplicity of their form.
Despite sharing a unified architectural language, the two buildings maintain unique spatial experiences, emphasizing privacy and a relationship with the outdoors.
