The 40th annual Gold Nugget awards competition at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference recognized outstanding architectural design and land-use planning across the western United States and Pacific Rim. A nine-member panel of judges evaluated over 600 entries in 46 categories. Southern California projects dominated the competition, winning nearly half the awards. Notable winners included Davenport in Ladera Ranch and Water Terrace in Marina del Rey for attached residential projects, Cortiles at Verrazzano in San Diego for home of the year, Shady Canyon in Irvine for residential master plan community, and Casa de Las Fuentes in Santa Barbara for best redevelopment project, which converted a former bank building into 42 affordable apartments.
