L7, founded in 1985 by Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner, will celebrate its 40th anniversary at a concert in Los Angeles on October 3. Co-headliners Lunachicks and CSS will join them, with more performers to be announced. Sparks curated the lineup, noting the shared humor and energy among the bands. L7 gained recognition in the late 1980s and 1990s, releasing their debut in 1988 and achieving a classic lineup by 1990. After disbanding in 2001, they reunited in the mid-2010s, releasing a reunion album in 2019.
Donita Sparks curated the lineup for the anniversary show, stating, "I think all three of our bands share a certain sense of humor, political right-on-ness, and bombastic energy, so, look out, mellow ones... you will be rocking!"
L7 disbanded in 2001 but reunited in the mid-2010s, sharing a reunion album, Scatter the Rats, in 2019.
