Here are California's new Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants for 2025
Briefly

The Michelin Guide California recently announced its new Bib Gourmand restaurants alongside star recipients, including six newcomers in various California locales. Bib Gourmand recognizes eateries that provide 'good quality, good value cooking,' distinct from high-priced star-rated establishments. During the announcement, Los Angeles celebrated its first two three-star restaurants, Somni and Providence, while Costa Mesa's Hana re lost its Michelin star. Notably, Orange County's Bib Gourmand count remains unchanged this year, highlighting the consistent culinary landscape of the region.
While not as renowned as the Michelin Guide's star rankings, which typically go to pricier spots, Bib Gourmand honors are awarded to restaurants that offer "good quality, good value cooking."
Their simpler style of cooking, which is recognizable and easy-to-eat, will leave customers 'with a sense of satisfaction at having eaten so well at such a reasonable price,' according to the guide.
During Wednesday's ceremony in Sacramento, Michelin Guide California awarded Los Angeles its first-ever three-star restaurants: Somni and Providence.
Costa Mesa's Hana re, a renowned sushi spot, was stripped of its one star it had held from 2019 until 2024.
