Diablo IV is set to feature its eighth Season, centering around the return of Belial, the Lord of Lies, also known for his role as a major antagonist in Diablo III. This new season introduces him as a lair boss, bringing significant narrative implications. Blizzard's lore historian Ian Landa-Beavers and lead seasons designer Deric Nunez discussed Belial's history, motivations, and how he has evolved since his defeat in Diablo III, when he impersonated Emperor Hakan II. Additionally, fans can expect exclusive concept art of the character from the development of Diablo III.
Belial is considered one of the seven Great Evils. He counts himself among the four Lesser Evils, though that doesn't mean they're any less dangerous than the Prime Evils.
In Diablo III, we saw what he is capable of when he is allowed to kind of build up to his full strength and put his networks of lies and intrigue throughout a society.
