Gavin Lux, after being traded from the Dodgers to the Reds, reflects on the surreal experience of facing his former teammates. Though his career began with the Dodgers, he expresses gratitude for the trade, seeing it as a positive move for his career. Lux values the opportunity to work under respected manager Terry Francona and emphasizes the importance of relationships built over the years. Adjusting to the Reds has been smoother due to his surroundings, as many of his new teammates are peers he faced in the minor leagues.
Obviously you still don't really expect it after being in one place for so long. But at the same time, it is a business.
It's pretty surreal, going and seeing all the guys you won a World Series with on the other side. But it's pretty cool at the same time.
I think they did me a favor by sending me to a place where I think they think I can help.
I actually played against a lot of these guys in the minor leagues. A lot of them are right around my age.
