Drake amends UMG defamation suit to reference "Not Like Us" at the Super Bowl
Briefly

Drake has updated his defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group, citing Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl performance of 'Not Like Us', which included a controversial allegation against him. Lamar modified certain lyrics during his performance, yet parts of the song were still deemed damaging. Drake's lawyers argue that the censoring failed to mitigate the song's original defamatory implications, further damaging Drake's public image. Universal Music Group has expressed confidence in their obligations, suggesting Drake's legal representation may be misguiding him.
Kendrick Lamar would not have been permitted to perform during the Super Bowl Performance unless the word 'pedophile' (in the phrase 'certified pedophiles') was omitted from the lyrics.
Drake's team stated that the agreement to censor the word 'pedophile' failed to cure the Super Bowl Performance of conveying the Recording's central defamatory meaning.
It was the first, and will hopefully be the last, Super Bowl halftime show orchestrated to assassinate the character of another artist.
UMG said that 'Drake... is being misled by his legal representation about UMG's obligations, which UMG is confident it has satisfied.'
