"We're playing them and at the time, to be fair, they were way more talented than we were. That was probably the most talented team I've seen. They were the best team in baseball."
The Padres were undoubtedly talented. They had arguably the best starting rotation at the end of the regular season with Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove, Dylan Cease, and Michael King all pitching great.
This Padres squad showed how great they could be in Game 2 of the NL Division Series against the Dodgers, when they embarrassed the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium with a dominant 8-2 victory.
The Padres took Game 3 of the series, but the Dodgers' bullpen shut the Padres out over the final two games of the series. Had the Dodgers not come out strong for the final two games, it's very possible the Padres would have won their first World Series.
