Dodgers' Dave Roberts reveals Hyeseong Kim's role in 2026 season
"Hyeseong's in the mix, we got Espinal, obviously, Miggy Ro's gonna do some things over there, Freeland certainly in the mix, so we've got some nice options,"
"That's something that's interesting, Tommy's a guy that we're gonna be thinking about, but I think Hyeseong's gonna play some center field as well. I want to get him out there, because I want to get him at bats. With Hyeseong, I think that just the adjustability with the high ball, the spin, just kind of, I think that he got a good introduction to Major League pitching, and I think he's gonna be better this year."
Hyeseong Kim began 2025 in the minors while adjusting his mechanics and adapting to life as a stateside baseball player. The Dodgers called him up amid a wave of injuries after an early hot stretch, and he received significant playing time before pitchers adjusted and a shoulder injury limited him. Kim hit .339/.378/.464 with a 136 OPS+ in his first-half 112 at-bats but slumped to .143/.160/.204 with 1 OPS+ in the second half and had no postseason at-bats. Manager Dave Roberts plans to increase Kim's role in 2026 and use him in center field to get more at-bats.
