Manager Dave Roberts identified Hyeseong Kim, Santiago Espinal, Miguel Rojas and Alex Freeland as options to man second base during Edman's recovery. The Dodgers signed former All-Star Santiago Espinal to a Minor League deal. Hyeseong Kim batted .280/.314/.385 in 71 games as a rookie in 2025. Miguel Rojas provided Gold Glove-caliber defense with a 100 wRC+ in 114 appearances. Espinal has kept his strikeout rate below 15% since 2021, including a career-best 11.6% in 328 plate appearances last season.
