Brusdar Graterol encouraged after right shoulder surgery
Briefly

Brusdar Graterol of the Los Angeles Dodgers had labrum surgery on his right shoulder following the 2024 season, which had caused significant discomfort and injuries. He expressed feeling rejuvenated post-surgery, describing his shoulder as having transformed into a 'new arm.' In his 2024 season, he faced additional injury setbacks, including a Grade 1 hamstring strain after a brief pitching appearance. Despite the optimistic outlook post-surgery, Graterol is projected to miss the first half of the 2025 season while the Dodgers maintain bullpen strength to cope with his absence.
Right-hander Brusdar Graterol said he feels like he has "a new arm" after surgery on his right shoulder in November. Graterol missed much of the 2024 season with recurring discomfort in his pitching shoulder. The surgery dealt with issues in his labrum and a ligament in his shoulder, he said. "Thank God, it was not the rotator cuff," he said.
Graterol didn't make his season debut in 2024 until Aug. 6. That brought about more injury woes as he faced just three batters before suffering a Grade 1 right hamstring strain that initially was believed to be a season-ending hamstring tear.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts declared him a 'week-to-week situation' and Graterol remained out until the World Series. He pitched in three games against the New York Yankees, allowing one run, two hits and issuing four walks while collecting just one strikeout in 2.1 innings.
Graterol is expected to miss the first half of the 2025 season and should end up on the 60-day IL at some point. The Dodgers have the bullpen depth to sustain his loss.
