Microsoft open sources MS-DOS 4.0
Briefly

Microsoft released the source for MS-DOS 4.0, sourced from old floppy disks belonging to Ray Ozzie, on GitHub under the MIT license.
The code sheds light on the joint OS/2 adventure between IBM and Microsoft while revealing details about FAT16 support and the MS-DOS Shell.
Archived beta Multitasking DOS binaries and ibmbio.com source were also discovered in Ozzie's collection dating back to 1984.
Future plans include releasing the code for MS-DOS 3.3, 5, and 6 after the successful upload of MS-DOS 4.0 to GitHub.
