After 27 years, Tcl/Tk 9 finally arrives
Briefly

The Tcl/Tk team doesn't rush into new versions, adding significant enhancements, such as Unicode support and 64-bit data structures in version 9.0.
Tcl/Tk 9.0 introduces features like direct access to compressed files, allowing users to manage their contents seamlessly, thus enhancing usability.
With version 9.0, Tcl/Tk has significant breaking changes, yet it remains relatively small and simple, distinguishing it from larger scripting languages.
Now internally 64-bit, Tcl/Tk 9 allows strings of any length, and lists and dictionaries can have very large numbers of elements.
