AI platform sued by music group for using their songs as training material
The American Dollar filed a lawsuit against AI music platform Suno, alleging Suno used the band’s songs as training material for AI music-creation models. The band is represented by Poseidon Wave Media, a music rights management company. The filing covers 236 recordings and compositions supported by 164 copyright registrations. The complaint claims licensing revenue has fallen by 80%. The composers describe a successful licensing business with clients including Warner Brothers, Activision, Apple, Sony, PBS, MLB Network, and others. The complaint states that Suno used decades of the band’s work to destroy the market the band developed.
