Wacom, the graphics tablet manufacturer, has informed customers that their credit card details might have been compromised during purchases on its website between late November 2024 and early January 2025. The company has initiated an investigation and has reached out to potentially affected customers, advising them to monitor their credit card statements and to contact their issuers for any unauthorized charges. Initial indications suggest that malicious code may have been used to illegally capture payment information at the checkout stage on its Magento-powered e-commerce platform.
We believe it may have occurred between November 28, 2024 and January 8, 2025. The issue that contributed to the incident has been addressed.
Monitor your credit card statements for any unauthorized activity. Contact your credit card issuer immediately if you see any suspicious charges.
To us, it sounds as though someone was able to infect the maker's website with malicious code that skimmed people's card details.
Wacom uses Magento for its e-commerce, which leads us to speculate someone exploited something like the CosmicSting vulnerability.
