The United States has arrested a US Army soldier, Cameron John Wagenius, for involvement in a hacking scheme selling stolen phone records over online forums.
Kiberphant0m, under which Wagenius is connected, claimed to have hacked 15 telecom firms and aimed to sell stolen information linked to high-profile breaches.
KrebsOnSecurity highlights that Kiberphant0m posted what they claimed were AT&T call logs for prominent political figures, questioning the authenticity amid significant customer data theft.
Cybersecurity expert Allison Nixon criticized the harassment directed at researchers, stating, ‘A member of the military anonymously extorting the President is a bad idea.’
