President Trump's administration has proposed a budget that cuts approximately $495 million from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which could result in layoffs of around 1,000 employees. The White House aims to focus CISA on its core mission of protecting critical infrastructure and federal networks, instead of its disinformation initiatives, which the administration claims were limiting free speech. With these cuts, CISA will also lose resources for analyzing future threats and supporting local governments and companies in cybersecurity efforts.
The Budget eliminates CISA's disinformation offices and programmes that functioned as a hub in the censorship industrial complex, conspiring against the First Amendment rights of President Trump and his supporters.
CISA was more focused on cooperating with big tech to target free speech than our nation's critical systems, said the White House.
