The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center reported that hackers accessed the sensitive health data of more than 1.4 million individuals in a cyberattack in September.
Hackers stole various sensitive information including Social Security numbers, financial account details, and health records, which severely compromises the privacy of affected individuals.
The Interlock ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack, asserting they published 2.1 million files from TTUHSC, amounting to 2.6 terabytes of data.
TTUHSC's dedicated security incident website currently instructs search engines to ignore it, complicating the ability of impacted individuals to find pertinent information.
