According to the survey, 79% of IT leaders are aware of secret leaks within their organizations, yet 75% express confidence in their ability to detect and prevent hardcoded secrets.
Thomas Segura pointed out, 'The biggest issue organizations encounter is that secrets can be found everywhere and cybercriminals are becoming adept at scanning for them.'
Chris Smith stated, 'Cybercriminals are observing IT environments for months to determine how to inflict the most damage possible, leveraging compromised identities for access to services.'
Smith advised, 'The best way to combat potential threats is to ensure secrets are encrypted in a vault and regularly rotated to mitigate previous compromises.'
