Schneider Electric reports cyberattack, its third incident in 18 months
Briefly

Schneider Electric has confirmed a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to an internal project execution tracking platform, prompting an immediate investigation by its Global Incident Response team.
The attackers, linked to the Hellcat ransomware variant, claim to have stolen over 40 gigabytes of data, including sensitive user information and project details from Schneider's JIRA platform.
HellCat has demanded a ransom of $125,000 USD in 'baguettes,' a tongue-in-cheek reference reflecting the company’s French roots, while actually seeking payment in Monero.
The attackers’ message notably targets new CEO Olivier Blum, suggesting that acknowledging the breach could reduce the ransom demanded, highlighting the psychological tactics often employed in ransomware cases.
