NSO Group used WhatsApp exploits after the messaging app sued the spyware developer, court filing says
Briefly

NSO Group developed malware that exploited WhatsApp, continuing its operations even after facing legal actions from the messaging app regarding anti-hacking violations.
Following the detection of malicious messages in May 2019, WhatsApp took measures to disable an exploit named 'Eden', yet NSO subsequently created a new malware vector named 'Erised'.
NSO's use of spyware is further detailed in the court filing, indicating that the customer's role was minimal, as most of the process was managed by NSO.
Despite earlier assertions that its customers had a significant role in using their spyware, the filing clarifies that NSO actually controlled the entire data retrieval process.
