Nick Andersen began his role as executive assistant director for cybersecurity at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Andersen has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors, including president and chief operating officer at Invictus and chief information security officer for Lumen's public sector unit. From 2019 to 2021, Andersen served as principal deputy assistant secretary and performed assistant secretary duties at the Department of Energy's Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response unit. Andersen also served as Vermont's CISO and held intelligence roles in the Navy and Coast Guard. Chris Butera previously served in the role in an acting capacity and will transition to acting deputy executive assistant director. Karen Evans served earlier amid major workforce reductions that saw nearly a third of the agency's staff depart.
