"Treasury takes very seriously all threats against our systems, and the data it holds," a department spokesperson emphasized, underscoring the agency's commitment to bolstering cybersecurity efforts.
The breach was disclosed in a letter to lawmakers stating that "at this time there is no evidence indicating the threat actor has continued access to Treasury information."
China's Foreign Ministry dismissed allegations of hacking as groundless, asserting that China opposes all forms of hacking and the dissemination of false information against it.
