Kaspersky is shutting down its business in the United States

Kaspersky Lab will shut down operations in the U.S. on July 20 and lay off U.S.-based employees, affecting less than 50 staff. Sanctions imposed over national security risks from Russian government's cyber influence lead to this move.

U.S. Treasury and Commerce Departments sanctioned Kaspersky Lab executives and added Kaspersky entities to the Entity List due to national security concerns. The BIS banned software sales and updates, deeming the company's operations in the U.S. a risk to national security.
