Casio confirmed that almost 8,500 individuals had their personal data stolen in an October ransomware attack linked to a Russian cybercriminal group.
The hackers, who infiltrated Casio's systems, accessed sensitive personal information, including employee details and data from business partners, but no credit card information was leaked.
Casio acknowledged deficiencies in its phishing email defenses that allowed for the breach, but maintained that it did not negotiate with the ransomware perpetrators.
The ransomware attack was executed by the Underground ransomware gang, who stole over 200 gigabytes of data, exposing nearly 6,500 employees' personal details.
