AI overtakes ransomware as the biggest security concern for organizations
Briefly

The Arctic Wolf's State of Cybersecurity: 2025 Trends Report reveals that by 2025, ransomware will transition from being the primary security concern for organizations to a backdrop where AI, large language models (LLMs), and privacy take precedence. Despite the increasing focus on AI, traditional threats persist, with 52% of organizations reporting successful cyberattacks in the past year. Budget limitations and outdated incident response strategies contribute to these vulnerabilities. Notably, 70% of organizations will face serious cyberattacks by 2024, emphasizing the pressing need for enhanced security measures and transparency in incident reporting.
'The 2025 Trends Report provides an insightful snapshot of how security leaders think,' said Dan Schiappa, President of Technology and Services at Arctic Wolf. 'The rapid rise of AI is creating new uncertainties, not only about how attackers operate, but also about how defenders should respond.'
Although attention to AI has grown, traditional threats remain prominent. The Arctic Wolf survey shows that more than half (52 percent) of organizations worldwide have experienced a successful cyberattack in the past year.
