A recent report by Netwrix indicates that 76% of managed service providers (MSPs) have detected a cyberattack in the last year, reflecting alarmingly high vulnerability to security breaches within this sector.
Among MSPs that suffered a cyberattack, 51% incurred unplanned costs to rectify security failings. An additional 31% reported losing their competitive edge, emphasizing substantial financial risks tied to poor cybersecurity.
The report highlights that nearly half (49%) of security incidents in cloud settings stem from user account compromises, pointing to a critical area for improvement in security practices among MSPs.
Attacks against MSPs were significantly concentrated in certain types: 46% of on-premises attacks involved ransomware or other malware, underscoring the necessity for robust defense mechanisms.
