David Lynch's final project, the Netflix series 'Unrecorded Night,' was a carefully crafted mystery focusing on Los Angeles, as revealed by his cinematographer Peter Deming. Initially titled 'Wisteria', the project evolved over four years, with speculation around its production and possible Cannes debut. Despite Lynch's declining health affecting his filmmaking career, Deming emphasized that the series would stand apart from Lynch's iconic work on 'Twin Peaks', showcasing old Hollywood themes while weaving mystery narratives that define Lynch's style.
It was definitely a really interesting... mystery. To me, this was another LA canon for him, and one that sort of mixed in filmmaking and Old Hollywood a bit.
Unrecorded Night was definitely not Twin Peaks. Lynch pointed to his declining health and disheartening changes in the movie industry as reasons for him never making movies again.
