Celebrating the small has become a big deal at the McMinnville Short Film Festival * Oregon ArtsWatch
Briefly

The McMinnville Short Film Festival concluded its 14th annual event with over 100 films screened from 15 countries, including numerous premieres. The festival, now a significant cultural event for McMinnville and Yamhill County, featured not only screenings but also engaging talkbacks and industry panels with filmmakers, creating an inviting atmosphere for attendees. Executive Director Heather Older mentioned the diverse participation and energy as filmmakers from around the globe gathered for the event, highlighting the festival’s evolution into a vibrant space for film discussion, connection, and celebration.
"It just makes a big melting pot of an experience," said Executive Director Heather Older. "We had people flying in from Europe. You could feel the energy."
More than 100 films from more than 15 countries were screened over four days, including 18 world premieres and nearly 30 Oregon premieres.
Organizers say about 65 percent of the films were personally represented - usually by the director, but a few actors and producers also were present.
The festival's mission is to showcase and celebrate the small, but this event, easily the largest cultural celebration in McMinnville and possibly in Yamhill County, increasingly has an epic vibe.
