The financial shackling of historically Black universities in the United States
Briefly

Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) were established to empower African Americans through education. However, despite nearly two centuries of existence, economic, social, and political equality remains unachieved due to systemic oppression by white-dominated institutions. The adverse impact of discriminatory practices like redlining has left Black families with significantly less wealth than their white counterparts. While not all white individuals support these disparities, many have either overlooked or passively accepted a system that perpetuates such inequity, a reality that persists under current political leadership as well.
The mission of historically Black colleges and universities to foster economic and social freedom for African Americans has faced systemic challenges, making equality elusive.
It is crucial to understand that the struggles of HBCUs were not merely failures of leadership but rather the result of intentional systemic suppression by controlling white society.
