Goddard Veterinary Nursing College has established a clinical skills centre in Woodford Green, designed as a mock veterinary practice. This facility features essential areas such as an operating theatre, X-ray room, and kennels, enabling students to practice practical skills using soft toys. The centre will be accessible throughout students' courses, supporting both their learning needs and professional development workshops for qualified nurses. Emma Eve-Raw emphasized its importance in transitioning from classroom learning to real clinical experiences, fostering confidence and competence in future veterinary nurses.
Our new space will be invaluable for helping students gain the confidence and competence to excel in their role.
Learning how to do practical tasks in a classroom can be very different to performing them in a clinical setting.
It will also benefit students who have additional learning needs as they will be able to use the space as often as they need to.
The centre will help students refine their practical skills, practising on soft toys, and will be accessible during study time and lessons.
